Friday Night Lights Preview: Lions Host Cardinals in Non-Conference Clash

The Minerva Lions (1-1) return home this Friday to host the Sandy Valley Cardinals (0-2) in a matchup featuring familiar faces and a strong local connection.

The Connection: Sandy Valley is led by first-year head coach Torrance Carle, a proud Minerva High School and Mount Union graduate who returns home to Ohio after 13 years of coaching experience. Coach Carle brings a respected background in player development and discipline as he works to establish a foundation for the Cardinal program.

Lions Momentum: Minerva looks to build on the momentum of last week's 40-7 win over Springfield. The Lions' physical run game, spearheaded by All-Ohio running back Timmy Kirkpatrick alongside a talent-rich backfield, aims to set the tone on the ground.

Cardinals Focus: Sandy Valley will rely heavily on playmaker Natch Overly, who has accounted for both Cardinal touchdowns this season, to spark their offense and challenge the Lions' defense.

Go Lions! Beat SV Cardinals!

Athletic Hall of Fame tickets will be on sale from 8am-2:30pm in the High School Athletic Office beginning on Tuesday, 9/8.
Tickets are $30/person cash or check and must be purchased by Friday, 9/18. No tickets are sold at the door.
This year's Hall of Fame inductees are: Mason Butler, Pat Couch, Jonathon Leiser, the late Ryan Smith, Jacob Stewart and Bob Wiley.
