INDIANAPOLIS — Members of the Minerva FFA Chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana, October 21–24, 2026, to attend the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo. The annual event brought together FFA members from across the United States to celebrate agricultural education, build leadership skills, explore career pathways, and recognize student achievements.

A highlight of this year's convention was the presentation of the American FFA Degree to Minerva members Ella French and Lillian Kugler. As the National FFA Organization's highest award, the degree is earned by less than one percent of FFA members each year and reflects years of dedication, community service, leadership, and success in Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs.

Throughout the four-day convention, Minerva students attended General Sessions featuring a keynote address focused on personal growth and community impact. Members also participated in interactive leadership workshops designed to strengthen communication, teamwork, and professional development while connecting with peers from other state chapters.

At the National FFA Expo, delegates explored career opportunities and networked with representatives from agricultural businesses, colleges, and industry organizations. The expo highlighted diverse sectors, including agricultural technology, engineering, animal and plant sciences, agribusiness, and natural resource management.

"Attending the National FFA Convention gives our students an opportunity to see just how large and diverse the agricultural industry truly is," said Minerva FFA Advisor Kyle Lucas. "They get to experience leadership on a national level, explore career opportunities, and bring new ideas back to our chapter. Seeing two of our members earn their American FFA Degrees makes the experience even more impactful."

Agricultural education in Minerva, Ohio, dates back to 1921, and the Minerva FFA Chapter was officially chartered in 1934. Operating as part of the agricultural education program at Minerva High School, the chapter provides hands-on instruction in agricultural science, business management, and practical career preparation. As the chapter approaches its 93rd anniversary in 2027, it continues its tradition of developing future agricultural leaders.
