Minerva Elementary custodial assistant and alumnus, Josh Kerr, was recently honored for 10 years of part-time service by the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities (CCBDD) and the Reach 4 More employment program. The recognition celebrates Kerr's dedication and Minerva Elementary's commitment to inclusivity for differently abled individuals.

  • Award Presentation: Kerr was the guest of honor at a presentation in the cafeteria, where third-grade students gave him a "Whoo-Hoo" ovation.

  • Praise for Dedication: CCBDD Superintendent William Devon called the 10-year milestone significant, praising Josh as a "dependable, capable employee." Principal Becky Miller thanked Kerr for coming to work every day "with a smile and a can-do attitude," noting he goes above and beyond by helping students with coats and trays, and supporting school athletics.

  • Hometown Pride: Kerr, who also works at the Minerva YMCA, is known for his school spirit, especially supporting the Minerva Lions and Ohio State football. He finds working with the children the most rewarding part of his job.

  • Inspiration: His sister, Ashley Toussant, described him as "kind, caring, and committed," calling his dedication "inspiring to all of us."

Reach 4 More and CCBDD recognized the school for fostering a "wonderful environment for people with disabilities," demonstrating a strong community commitment to supporting and helping their own succeed.
